I received this as a gift in 2000. It's "waterproof," but got damaged from salt water in the
battery compartment during the San Juan Challenge 2003. I recently sent it to Garmin for
repair. It was outside of the warranty period so they charged me $125 and sent me a
brand new unit. I'm now using a different model - the Geko 201 - and don't need this one
anymore. I'd like to get the $125 I paid for the "repair."
