two week reminder:  Elk River Challenge
last wknd of this month, July 28th
Westport
10: 30 race start, Pre-race meeting at 9:45

short course: 2 miles. Long course 7

But 7 of the most scenic miles around.  Course begins and ends at Brady's Oyster House, goes under the bridge and through 3 fingers of the salt marsh estuary, then back to Brady's.

Race is not only scenic, but usually includes a wonderful variety of water craft, including home-builts and custom craft. Come see where the gorgeous Tahitian OC6 was built.

Race is FREE to SoundRowers members (and yes, you can join right there at the registration table before the race).  You can't afford not to join.  SoundRowers offers the most affordable races around. Your memberships help keep them so affordable.

Race fee:  $10 for non-members.

Race is also very generously supported by co-host, Brandy's Oysters who provide an amazing supply of oyster shooters following the race, possibly the tastiest oysters on earth.
It's worth the trip, just for the oysters.

Terrific raffle prizes.  Unique, sometimes hand-crafted by the uber-talented Race Director himself, Vern.  Some have been known in the past to include tasty seafood. No promises, but I once won a huge & delicious crab.

Free overnight camping at the Heikkilas (thank you Vern & Janet)

Special option this year, to make your venture out to westport even more worthwhile, stay overnight for next day, Sunday.  12 mile RT non-competitive (at least no timer) row/paddle over to Ocean Shores. So close by water, so far by car.

8:30 start, stop for lunch or snacks (BYO), then paddle back.
No fee. Just enjoy the camaraderie, scenery, and the crossing.

Race Directors, Vern & Janet Heikkila are saying this may be the last year for this race. Come show your support for how much we love & value this race!
