Summer time and time for the 14th annual Manchester- Round Blake Island Race Saturday, July 13th, Manchester State Park North tip Kitsap Peninsula 10am race start with 9:15 pre-race meeting Discover Pass required for WA State Park ($10 day pass/$30/annual) 10 mile course begins & ends at Manchester State Park; proceeds south to & around Blake Island, then back up to state park. Racers choice on Clockwise or Counter-Clockwise direction round Blake (unless one direction prescribed by Race Director for safety reasons/limited chase boats). Race followed by the tastiest soup feast. Bring you, your boat, paddle/oars, pfd, whistle, muscle-power, sunscreen -- and a good appetite. Vadim and Martine work hard on these scrumptious soups -- and organizing this very fun race. Please show your support. Outrigger/dugout canoes; kayaks; surfskis; SUPs/prone paddleboard; pedal craft; dragon boat. pfd, whistle, and ability to self-rescue in cold water requiered CampingManchester State Park. Camping reservations can be made online or by calling the Reservations Center at (888) CAMPOUT up to 11 months ahead of time. All the campsites are on the hill in the woods above the beach. Walking distance to the start. See the Washington State Park web page at www.parks.wa.gov Blake Island is a boat access only island, but there is camping. If you are feeling energetic and up for adventure, you could row, paddle or pedal your camping gear to Blake, then "warm -up" by rowing/paddling/or pedaling over to race start.
