Canoe and outrigger canoe athletes, how would you like to paddle on
a beautiful late summer morning for good food, good fun, and a good
cause?

You're invited to join rowers, kayakers, and dragon boat crews on
Sunday, Sept. 18 in Lake Union at the 2005 Row for the Cure to
benefit the battle against breast cancer.

Hot coffee and a home-cooked breakfast follow the rowing and
paddling event, which is a 3500-meter race centered at Seattle's
Pocock Rowing Center. Pocock is located on the waterfront on the
northeast end of Lake Union and adjacent to the University Bridge.

Racing is staggered in flights, with rowers and paddlers to start in
the Lake Washington Ship Canal alongside the SPU boat dock (at the
end of 3rd Avenue West

off W. Nickerson Street). The course follows the shoreline to south
Lake Union and finishes in front of Chandler's Cove.

Kayaks, canoes, and dragon boats may launch at the public boat
launch north Lake Union east of Gasworks Park.

Since 2000 this event (previously known as Row4Health) has raised
more than $82,000 for the Puget Sound Affiliate of the Susan G.
Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

This is a USRowing registered regatta with USRowing officials.
Sponsors are Zymogenetics; Ryan, Swanson & Cleveland PLLC, H.D.
Fowler Co. Inc., SHKS Architects, Northwest Hospital, and
RegattaCentral.

Your nonrefundable entry fee of $25 includes a short sleeve T-shirt,
all the food (cheese strata, donuts, fruit, etc.) you can eat, and a
brief program moderated by KING-TV's Jean Enerson and featuring a
rower currently fighting breast cancer.

You may register online at www.regattacentral.com through Sept. 3 or
contact Steff Fowler at 425.454-7441 for an entry packet and further
information. Registration is encouraged by Saturday, Sept. 10.

Each participant is encouraged to raise a minimum donation of $150,
which is the cost of a screening mammogram.
