At these events have you noticed the narrow chute and rubber mat
at the finish line? In order to get a good time the transmitting
and receiving antenna have to be in quite close proximity to the
chip.

The Ski to Sea has been using computerized timingfor years. I bet our program has been tweaked every year for the lastten....or more, and the results are still questionable. But oursis not simple.

Race timing and results sorting, no computer
What we could use is a set of narrow strips of whiteboard, one per
boat, clipped or Velcroed to a backing. Everybody signing in puts
their name(s) and boat number and class on a strip. The timers

Race timing Software (was race timing)
There were two Palm OS and one Win CE programs for hand-helds, plus a
bunch of Windows (laptop) systems. Laura J. knew more than I about
these (If you are monitoring, please contribute!).
