Re: Monterrey Crossing?

Great to hear they are reviving this race! Back in the 90’s I did it a couple of times – it’s a straight line slog like the Catalina-Marina del Rey race – I find our island circumnavigation races more interesting. And it’s definitely open ocean with wind chop and big swell. With the fog and dark start, the risk of getting run over by the chase boats may be outweighed by their potential value. At least with the prevailing winds/weather, if you break something you will eventually wash up on the shore! …Tom

Subject: [SoundRowers] Monterrey Crossing?
The Santa Cruz Rowing Club is exploring the suggestion that they once again host the Monterrey Bay Crossing, a 20+ NM row with likely accompaniment by whales, sea lions, and deep sea monsters. Here's the link they've provided: http://campaign.r20.constantcontact.com/render?ca=f494969c-8c67-4b57-a5bd-cb4b18ef216a&c=8e001f10-bf48-11e3-a716-d4ae527b8053&ch=8e052820-bf48-11e3-a716-d4ae527b8053
