Re: Schdeduling a race on a Sunday?

We see no problem with having a race on a Sunday. The Quartermaster Harbor race on Vashon Island used to be held on Sundays. And I recall that we scheduled the Elk River Challenge on a Sunday one year to take advantage of the best tide situation.

When other boating groups, such as rowing or outrigger or kayak organizations schedule a race on a particular Saturday, we can still take advantage of a desirable weekend by choosing Sunday. A good example was last September 22 when the SR Lake Samish race and the Pacific NW Outrigger Lummi Reservation race were on the same morning. If either of those events had been on Sunday, attendance at both would have been greater. And many paddlers would have enjoyed a full weekend of racing in the greater Bellingham area.

Subject: [SoundRowers] Schdeduling a race on a Sunday?

Just about all Sound Rowers races are held on a Saturday. Would there be any objection if a race was scheduled for a Sunday?

The reason I am asking is because the preferred day (Saturday, June 1, 2013) for the Lake Sammamish Race is the same day as a triathlon being held at Lake Sammamish State Park. The race could be held either on Sunday, or in the afternoon on Saturday.

What do you folks think?
